FAQs
What are the fees to join?
There is a non refundable initiation fee and a $100 refundable bond. Dues are reviewed each year.
How do I apply for membership to the club?
To apply for membership requires 4 sponsors to recommend you. Ask a member who has been active for at least one or more years to print an application for you from the Forms page or to contact the Membership Chairperson thru the Contacts page using the "Membership" category. This person will be your sponsor. Your sponsor and three additional active members will write and sign a letter of recommendation. When the application is mailed along with the application fee and recommendation letters, you will be placed on the 'Wait List'. Applications should be mailed to Martins Dam, PO Box 4, Wayne, PA 19087. Typically the wait time for subsequent full membership is 6 to 24 months.
How long is the 'wait list'?
Our wait list is approximately 6 to 24 months.
Are (swim) parties allowed at the club? How many children are allowed, and what are the fees? Also, what hours are best?
Parties are welcome at the Martin's Dam Club as long as they don't interfere with the members of the Club. "Off peak" hours are suggested, and parties must be approved by Martin's Dam's General Manager to confirm there are no conflicting events at the time of the party. Children under the age of 11 must be supervised on the property by an adult at all times.
Parties follow the same rules as the Club's overall guest policy which is as follows:
Guests are limited to 7 visits per season
Each member may bring up to 5 guests at a time
Guest fees are $7 on weekdays and $10 on weekends
Guests who are not a member of Martin's Dam must pass the swim test by the lifeguard on duty
Martin's Dam Club children who have not passed the Frog Test may not swim in the main pool unless accompanied by an adult, and may not use the diving boards or slide.
To register your party, please fill out the Event Registration Form that includes the name of the sponsoring member, name of children attending, age, emergency contact information, and indicate if the attendee is a Martin's Dam member or not. This form should be then be either handed off to the front desk for review and approval or scanned and sent to the Club's general manager at martinsgeneralmanager@themartinsdamclub.org. If additional guests are attending, please print and complete multiple pages. Note, parties are not permitted until the GM has provided his approval.
What do I need to know when I become a new member so that I keep informed?
We attempt to communicate thru our web site as much as possible.
Who do I contact regarding job opportunities at Martin's Dam?
Complete and mail the Application for Employment to be considered for open positions. The Application for Employment may be found HERE.
When will we know when a swim meet is canceled/postponed?
A swim meet is canceled/postponed when both coaches agree that the meet should be canceled. Normally, the only reason that a meet is canceled/postponed is due to lightning. Check the pool status to determine if the pool facility is currently open.
What is the process for bringing guests to the club?
The pool, tennis courts, and paddle courts are for the exclusive use of our members and their guests. All guests must sign in at the front desk or up at the tennis pavilion. If the tennis or pool attendant is busy or not available, the general membership does rely upon each of us to honor this obligation as soon as practical. Guests are limited to 7 visits per season and each member may bring up to 5 guests at a time. Guest fees are $7 on weekdays and $10 on weekends.
